Batu Hiu Is Beautiful Trip To Pangandaran

When we got to Batu Hiu we went in search of a little turtle rehabilitation centre that we had heard about. When we got there, it seemed like it was a little disappointing. Three tiled pools were in the back of a tiny dilapidated building and inside the pools floated some beautiful turtles. It looked like something set up as a cheap tourist gimmick, but as we all know, looks can be very deceiving. The program was actually very positive, they just don’t have the money to develop their site any further. The money goes to the turtles and their care.

We then headed off to
Batu Hiu and climbed through the mouth of the shark and up the hill to see some of the most incredible views of coastland I’ve seen in my life time. When I got to the top I sat on the grass with my camera and just watched the world breathe. There is something absolutely phenomenal about just taking in the world around you when all you hear is silence and its as if you are the only person on earth. The sea swells and spits white wash at a silent sand. Rocks and trees and creatures live here, breathe here, grow here, existing. I spent a long time watching some local fishermen casting their lines off the rocky cliffs into the belly of the sea.

Tangkuban Perahu Mountain

Tangkuban Perahu, or Tangkuban Parahu in local Sundanese dialect, is an active volcano 30 km north of the city of Bandung, the provincial capital of West Java, Indonesia. It is a popular tourist attraction where tourists can hike or ride to the edge of the crater to view the hot water springs upclose, and buy eggs cooked on its hot surface. This stratovolcano is on the island of Java and last erupted in 1983.

In April 2005 the Directorate of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation raised an alert, forbidding visitors from going up the volcano. "Sensors on the slopes of the two mountains - Anak Krakatoa on the southern tip of Sumatra Island and Tangkuban Perahu in Java - picked up an increase in volcanic activity and a build up of gases, said government volcanologist Syamsul Rizal."

Queen Creater (Kawah Ratu)

The name translates roughly to "upturning of (a) boat" or "upturned boat" in Sundanese, referring to the local legend of its creation. The story tells of "Dayang Sumbi", a beauty who lived in West Java. She cast away her son "Sangkuriang" for disobedience, and in her sadness was granted the power of eternal youth by the gods. After many years in exile, Sangkuriang decided to return to his home, long after the two had forgotten and failed to recognize each other. Sangkuriang fell in love with Dayang Sumbi and planned to marry her, only for Dayang Sumbi to recognize his birthmark just as he was about to go hunting. In order to prevent the marriage from taking place, Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to build a dam on the river Citarum and to build a large boat to cross the river, both before the sunrise. Sangkuriang meditated and summoned mythical ogre-like creatures -buta hejo or green giant(s)- to do his bidding. Dayang Sumbi saw that the tasks were almost completed and called on her workers to spread red silk cloths east of the city, to give the impression of impending sunrise. Sangkuriang was fooled, and upon believing that he had failed, kicked the dam and the unfinished boat, resulting in severe flooding and the creation of Tangkuban perahu from the hull of the boat.

Kawah Putih ( white Creater )

WestJavaTours - Kawah Putih means White Crater, located at South Bandung (West Java). It took about 1,5 hours drive from Bandung. There are several tourism objects near Kawah Putih such as Cidaun, Situ Patenggang, Ranca Upas, Strawberry field (that we can pick our own strawberry), so make sure you visit several places when you go to South Bandung, due to it's quite far distance from Bandung.

Kawah Putih can have different color in their lake, because it is covered by an active (fumarolic) volcano which has been dormant since 1600. As such they water is typically acidic, saturated with volcanic gases, and cloudy with a strong greenish color.

Kawah Putih is arguably one of the most beautiful crater lakes on the island of Java, and quite probably in the Indonesian archipelago. It is located about 46 kilometers south of Bandung on Patuha mountain (2,434 meters above sea level). The crater was discovered by a Dutch-German botanist and platation estate owner Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn in 1837.

According to geologists, this crater lake was created as a result of Mt. Patuha volcanic erruption in the year 1000 - 1200.
